Rift Combat Log Parser V1.0

actually this little tool was for my private use only. Due to the feedback I was convinced to
publish it. Hopefully I will not regret this step.

Rift Combat Log Parser is small and simple. Who is fine with the powerful Advanced Combat
Tracker has no reason for a change.

The parser is easy to use.

- "Parse" reads the combatlog and displays it.
- "Clear" deletes the combatlog to prevent it from growing too large (needs admin permission).
- "Copy" archives the combatlog under CombatLog<Nr>.txt (needs admin permission).

There is no installation needed. The parser supports english by default but can be set to german
by means of the command line. (Rightclick -> Properties -> Target)

\bin\Release\RiftCombatLogParser.exe deutsch

or for english

\bin\Release\RiftCombatLogParser.exe

To make sure that this is no malware, I added the source code. The copyright still belongs to me.
Of course you can make changes, expansions or improvements for your private use. But you should not
publish them.

This program needs no internet connection. It just reads the registry key for the installation
folder of Rift and the combatlog.

I am aware that many gimmicks could be added but: The goal is "small and simple".

Whoever likes the tool and want to say thank you can send me an in-game Rift mail on Akala.
Please, please no tells! That would fall into the category "to regret". ^^

Definitely my rogue would enjoy any little obolus too.

My special thanks go to all helpers that supported me in the test phase - particularly my
favorite tank Holok.

Have fun

Further Details:

It is helpful to write a /combatlog macro. Avoid that the combatlog gets too large. Reading
30 MB takes about 20 seconds.

For a better overview the parser divides the combatlog into separate combats. The title of each
combat shows the main target. Times when you were not in-combat are not displayed. Also all events
with less than 50 DPS or 50 HPS are filtered out. Otherwise everyone getting buffs in your vicinity
would show up in the statistics. Especially at the Boss Practice Dummy in the capital city you
would see a lot of spam. Be aware that you have to get out of combat before you can see it in
the parser. Likewise you should not stop recording before the combat ends.

Each combat is divided into participants. Below are all skills which have been used. The category
"Targets" shows how the damage accumulates on a target.

So it should be easy to find out what damage the tank takes (and the damage type), which
opposing skills should be avoided, which enemies should fall first because of their DPS rating
and how the whole damage on the boss splits up.

A special feature is that everyone has his own clock for DPS/HPS calculations. That means that
only the period counts when you did your first and your last damage. So give your tank time to
gather the mobs.

Healers can see their values for Min, Avg and Max healing (plus overhealing). The rate of
overhealing is displayed separately. So evaluating healing spells becomes more easy.

The values for Crit and Miss (= Miss, Dodge, Parry, Resist) are included in the attempts to hit #.

Unfortunately the combatlog of Rift has its weak spots. So it can happen that the combat ends
and thereafter you get your killing blow. Or that the overheal is missing if you have a critical
heal.
